LESSON #5 - LAYING ON OF
HANDS
Exodus 29:10
It was used by the High Priest and the priests to consecrate an animal. After they laid hands on it, they would sacrifice
it for the people.
Leviticus 9:22 Luke 24:50
The hand would be outstretched toward the people, and
the priest would bless them. Jesus also did this, after his resurrection, showing that he was in the high priestly office
after the order of Melchizedek.
Mark 10:16
Here is a case where Jesus is laying hands on the children,
blessing them.
Mark 6:5
Jesus lays His hands on sick people in both these verses.
Luke 4:40
But it was unbelief that stopped Him from doing many
mighty works in His home town. Later on He still lays hands on the sick and people with all different kinds of sickness are
healed, showing they believed.
Mark 16:18
Jesus told us that we would do just like He did. When you are a Christian, you are called a believer.
Acts 19:11
Notice that even though we lay hands on people, it is God who does the miracles. It isn't your responsibility to make
things happen.
I Timothy 4:14
This gift given to Timothy was one of the offices: It could have been the office of Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor,
or Teacher. Someone who was already in one of those offices had laid their hands on Timothy.
Acts 8:14-19
People then and now receive the Baptism with the Holy Spirit.
LESSON #5 - RAISING YOUR HANDS UNTO THE LORD
Psalms 63:4
Hands are lifted up to bless the Lord.
Psalms 134:2
It is especially appropriate in church!
I Timothy 2:8
The lifting of the hands is also used in prayer. They are called "holy hands" because we are holy before God.
When you lift holy hands praying, don't be angry at God, and don't doubt He will hear and answer you.
